Dr. Sonal Jagasia, MD MPH

Dr. Jagasia is a board-certified psychiatrist who is passionate about the care she provides to her patients. She has a special interest in treating individuals who suffer from mood and anxiety disorders. Dr. Jagasia’s approach is unique as she utilizes both medications and mindfulness/cognitive behavioral approaches to treat anxiety disorders.

 

Dr. Jagasia graduated from Cornell University with a B.A. in Biology and Society, where she was recognized for being on the Dean’s List. She then enrolled in the MD/MPH combined degree program at University of Arkansas, where she began her career in medicine and public health.

 

Dr. Jagasia completed her psychiatry internship and residency at Georgetown University Hospital and, in her final year, served as Chief Resident of the Georgetown Psychiatry Residency Program.

She was appointed into clinic leadership as the Medical Director of the Psychiatry clinic at Georgetown University before opening Mantra Mental Health. She continues to serve as adjunct faculty at Georgetown University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and most recently joined Mindful Care -- a mental healthcare initiative based in NY --  as their VP of Psychiatry to advocate for increased access to mental healthcare nationwide.

 

Dr. Jagasia has received awards for medical leadership and has been named as a “Top Doctor” by Washingtonian Magazine in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.

Lauren Skeffington LaPierre, PA-C, is a highly skilled and compassionate psychiatric provider known for her unwavering dedication to patient care, accessibility, and empathetic approach. She understands that seeking mental health treatment can be daunting, and she excels in working with individuals who may feel fearful or hesitant about psychiatric care, providing them with a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment.

With over a decade of experience in internal medicine and psychiatry which includes training at National Institutes of Health (NIH)—including specialized training at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)—Lauren combines evidence-based psychiatric treatment with a deeply personal, patient-centered approach. She believes in treating the whole person, not just symptoms, and integrates a variety of treatment modalities beyond medication management, including therapy, nutritional optimization, and health coaching.

Lauren is not only a highly credentialed and experienced clinician, but she is also known for being extremely reachable, patient, and kind. Her ability to connect with patients on a profound level helps her build trust, especially with those who may have had negative past experiences in mental healthcare. She takes the time to listen, educate, and empower her patients, ensuring they feel heard and actively involved in their treatment journey.

Her academic background includes undergraduate training in Biology and Psychology from Northeastern University, where she conducted extensive research at Harvard University. She earned graduate degrees in Biochemistry from Georgetown University and Physician Associate studies from George Washington University, graduating with high honors.

Lauren’s mission is to bridge the gap between evidenced-based psychiatric treatment and compassionate, human-centered care. She strives to make mental health support approachable, accessible, and stigma-free, helping patients regain control of their well-being with science-backed, integrative strategies.

Lauren lives in Northern Virginia. When she’s not working with patients, she enjoys yoga, running, cooking, and traveling.
